Day 10 Before and after
When I was on Facebook I would fall down rabbit holes following the footprints left by someone’s link or photo, to travel miles through their lives. Now I stand at the bottom of the garden and watch the vapour trails of planes, the flight paths of birds and the zigzag of gnats.
When I was on Facebook I could always find someone to talk to. Now I lie on the kitchen floor and talk to the dog.
When I was on Facebook red icons popped up like presents, green dots signalled life behind the screen, blue crescents spoke of halfway houses. Now I play music full blast to fill the holes the red, blue and green shapes left.
When I was on Facebook I had one hundred friends, now I have one hundred reasons to miss it.
But… I’m still not coming back.
